Hardware
All barn projects will require some type of hardware. You will need hardware for putting up fencing, hanging a stall door, mounting a hay rack and so forth. Because there are so many types of nails, screws and bolts available, I'm only going to discuss those that are used most often for barn projects. We'll also take a look at chain and chain hardware that can be used in and around your horse barn and horse property.
There are also many different types of gate latches, but there are only a few that work well for horse barns and horse fencing. It's really amazing to watch that one horse who has figured out how to open every stall door and gate! We all hate those gates and stall doors that sag. That's why it's important to use the proper hinge. We'll take a look at the different types of hinges and why size matters! It's also important to learn how to build a gate or stall door correctly to prevent sagging. We'll also discuss ways to fix the gate or stall door that is already sagging. Lastly, all horse barns should have hangers and hooks mounted everywhere! Where would we put all of our halters and lead ropes without them? We'll also look at some other various types of hangers that work well in horse barns.
